Ground stability

Ground stabilityDevelopment land can be unlocked when ground instability is correctly and economically addressed.

Large areas of the UK are underlain by mineworkings in coal, chalk, limestone and metaliferrous strata. Abandoned shallow mine workings and mine entries can present a serious risk of dangerous ground collapse.

Areas of slopes and landslips require careful assessment to maintain existing stability or address risks of movement. Crossfield Consulting has many years of experience in slope stability analysis using a variety of methods and computer software.

We have worked on numerous projects where we have undertaken appropriate investigations to obtain the necessary data for a comprehensive assessment of geotechnical hazards. This has allowed us to mitigate ground instability risks, including the design of remedial schemes to treat or manage unstable sites. Treatment works are fully monitored and validated to confirm that objectives are met.
